Iceland is not only Waterfalls and Northern Lights, on the north you can find this small ecosystem created by a large basaltic lava eruption 2300 years ago.
Its surrounding wetlands have an exceptionally rich fauna of waterbirds, especially ducks.
Curiosity and advice ... the lake's name comes from the huge numbers of midges that can be found here in summer and early fall.
